I love the large title block on the left side & how the small strips of paper go up to meet it. For some reason, though, my mojo wasn't there and I definitely didn't do the sketch justice with this one.

I really love my titleblock. I love that I stamped the Studio Calico doilies with Versamark on the grey paper and put colorful brads in the centers. I love that I mixed a lot of different patterns, a definite sign of my "style."
But that's where the love for this layout ends.
Where did I go wrong? Well, first, the rest of the chosen patterned papers are way too muted and the only thing that you look at when you see the layout is that grey titleblock. Everything else fades into the background. Second, writing on washi with anything other than a ballpoint pen is out of the question. Therefore, my writing is hard to read.
How do you think I could improve this layout because at the moment, I'm about ready to tear it apart! I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Meghann, I kind of like the color choices actually. A cool contrast. Especially with the doily stamped title block.
The only thing I might suggest, is maybe a few more strips of washi tape to connect the blocks?
I like this LO a lot. The only thing I might chance is the position of the title. Maybe move it to the space next to the orange PP?
I really like it too! Maybe some sprinkles of embellishments on the papers? Or more washi?
I think it looks great, but if you want to tie together the muted colors, what if you punched some small circles of the patterned papers to go under the brads and punched some really slim bits of the gray in a border punch to peek out from under the patterned PP's.
I like it) But seriously, I think we all create layouts that just seem "eh" to us I'll make a few that I love and then a few that I think are ok...and occassionally one I really dislike!
Ooh, yes, love how you've done the title block. But I agree it dominates the page. To pull it together I'd add a doodled grey border, so your eye flows around the page with it and gets drawn to the other elements. But that's just my idea! x
I think it's beautiful! Maybe you could ground it a bit by adding that same dark paper a bit in thin strips around the edge of the page? Just my two cents - I really like it the way it is! :)
